Where it all began…
Scotson Fold Pet Care Centre as we know it today was established in December 1987 by Jenny & Jim Renshaw. Jenny & Jim have been involved in business since 1968. When Jenny and Jim became the proud owners of the derelict farm of Scotson Fold, they began the restoration of the cottage, nine kennels and cat chalets that originally stood. In 1987 Jenny and Jim began a new era of Scotson Fold Pet Care Centre, after years of searching for somewhere suitable for their own pets, they were determined to create a safe, caring and comfortable environment for all pets in their care. During the first 6 months Jim would exercise the pets before leaving for work while Jenny would take care of the pets and take on the reception duties for the rest of the day until they began to employ their first members of staff. Jim sold his own company in 1996 to join Jenny in having a more active role in the running of Scotson Fold. Due to the growing popularity, more staff have been employed to ensure the high standards of Scotson Fold are maintained, and that the highest level of care and attention is given to each and every pet.
A small bio about our dedicated pet carers
Jayen lives at the farm and ten years management experience prior to working at Scotson Fold full time, helped her prepare to take over the difficult and demanding role of Manageress in 2000. Already having several years experience with domestic animals and a detailed knowledge of pet care and nutrition, Jayen has expanded on that knowledge since beginning her employment here. Jayen is often found in the office and reception, dealing with all aspects of customer and pet care. She is very well respected and is popular with all the clients and their owners
Michelle originally joined Scotson Fold in 1999. She was often seen working closely with the canine guests and tending to new arrivals. Michelle became one of our senior members of staff, supervising the juniors and could sometimes be found in reception meeting and greeting customers and their pets. Michelle left Scotson Fold for a brief spell to complete a BSc degree in Psychology which has helped further her knowledge of animal behaviour. Michelle has now returned as the role of office manager. She has built a good relationship with our clients and strives to continually improve our business and reputation.
Donna is one of our permanent, live-in members of staff at Scotson Fold. Having started full-time employment in 1998 at the kennels, Donna had already gained valuable knowledge from previous work experience as a veterinary assistant with approved training at local veterinary surgeries. She has since completed a City & Guilds qualification in Small Animal Care and her dedication and knowledge of animals has gained her the position as a senior member of staff, working closely with all the pets in our care. Donna has an excellent relationships with all our clients and can often be seen in the office or supervising colleagues in the kennels/cattery. Donna has also completed a vet-led course in canine first aid.
Since joining the Scotson Fold team in 2001, Andrea's loyalty and dedication to her work has been exemplary. Andrea has become a highly respected and valued member of staff. Her natural calming attitude is a huge asset to the team and extremely beneficial around the pets. Her positive and confident attitude enables her to sooth and settle the shyest of pets, and calm the most giddy. Andrea's knowledge of Pet Care is vastly expanding along with her customer care skills. She is often seen settling new arrivals into the kennels and cattery and regularly holds a supervisory role. Andrea has also completed a vet-led course in canine first aid.
Charlotte joined Scotson Fold in the spring of 2004 for work experience. Charlotte proved to be a very quick learner and thoroughly enjoyed her time with us, so much so that she joined the team on a full time permanent basis after she had finished her exams at school. Charlotte is reliable, dedicated and committed and has earned a great deal of respect from all of her work colleagues. She is very organised and always thinks ahead. She is fantastic with both canine and feline boarders and it is a pleasure to have Charlotte as a work colleague. Charlotte is a great asset to the team at Scotson Fold. Charlotte has also completed a vet-led course in canine first aid.
Keya first started volunteering for us at Scotson Fold early in 2019 and then became a permanent employee later that year in July. During her years with us Keya has successfully gained her Level 3 Animal Management Diploma in June 2021 which has put her in good stead with her employment. Keya, having large breed dogs of her own, is excellent at managing the larger, stronger breeds that board with us. She is fearless and works well with any temperament type. Keya is reliable, a hard worker and complements the Scotson Fold team well.
